On December 1, 2021, the EU-China Relationship in rules based multilateral investment system (EUChMIS) International Seminar , sponsored by the EU Jean Monnet Project and organized by Maastricht University in the Netherlands, was successfully held online. Professor Wang Canfa, vice chairman of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, was invited to participate in the conference, and delivered a speech on The policy and legal implementation of Chinese CC target aligning with the European targets.

The seminar aimed at how the new EU Green Deal is likely to impact EU-China trade and investment relationship. Experts and scholars from St.Louis University, Maastricht University, Erams University, the University of Canberra, China University of Political Science and Law, and Wuhan University, conducted talks on the new EU Green Deal, carbon border adjustment mechanism, climate change, circular economy, and EU-China trade. The seminar attracted more than a hundred experts and scholars from abroad and at home.

Professor Wang Canfa specifically introduced China’s policy and legal framework for achieving the “carbon goals” in recent years, and proposed that China’s “two carbon goals” is aligning with the European targets. He noted that China and the EU should strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of climate change.
