From December 5 to 11, 2018, Professor Yu Fei, Deputy Dean of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School, Professor Zhao Hongmei, Director of Social Law Institute, Professor Yu Wenxuan, Director of Environmental Resources Law Institute, Professor Xue Kepeng, Deputy Director of Economic Law Institute, and Jin Jing, Associate Professor of Civil Law Institute visited the Law School of Cologne University (Germany), the Law School of Jena University (Germany), Law and Finance School of Frankfurt University (Germany), Law School of Frankfurt University (Germany) and Law School of Bologna University (Italy).
On 6 December, the delegation held a meeting with the Law School of Cologne University. German participants included Stefan Bildhauer, Director of International Affairs Office of Cologne University, Kruse Jan, Director of International Exchange Center of Law School, Professor Martin Avenarius, Director of Roman Law Research Center, Jean Monet Chair Professor Stefan Hobe,Professor Barbara Dauner-Lieb, Chairman of Civil Law, Company Law, Labor Law and European Private Law, Professor Torsten Koerber, Chairman of the Civil Law, Competition Law and Digital Economy Law and Director of the Energy Law Research Center, Professor Martin Wassmer, Director of the Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure and Professor Thomas Weigend, Director of International Criminal Law Research Center. Professor Yu Fei introduced the comprehensive strength of our university’s law subjects from the two aspects that China University of Political Science and Law was selected into the Double First-rate Plan and the law discipline was evaluated a sat the A+ level by the Ministry of Education in 2017. He also introduced in detail the discipline distribution and faculty strength of the Civil and Commercial Economic Law School, as well as the discipline composition and comprehensive research strength of the school’s civil and commercial law discipline, economic law discipline, procedural law discipline, intellectual property law discipline, environmental resource law discipline and social law discipline, and focused on the scientific research, teaching characteristics and discipline setting of the school. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the cooperation, such as the visit of the researcher in civil and commercial law, economic law, environmental and resource law, social law scientific researchers, exchange of master’s and doctoral, summer primary school courses, academic workshops, and international seminars. The two sides signed a memorandum on the cooperation between Civil and Commercial Economic Law School of China University of Political Science and Law and Cologne University Law School, and reached a basic consensus on the scientific research cooperation and exchange of teachers and students.
From December 7 to 8, the delegation visited Law School of Jena University. Professor Walter Pauly, Dean of the Law School, Professor Volker Jänich, Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Matthias Knauff, Director of the Economic Law Institute and Ms. Liane Hartung, Director of the Law School Office attended the meeting. German participants mainly introduced the advantageous disciplines and curriculum of the Law School of Jena University. Professor Walter Pauly pointed out that the school has a very detailed thematic curriculum in economic law, energy law, social law and other disciplines, and strong research strength of basic theories on the philosophy of law and law history. Professor Yu Fei introduced the specific curriculum of the basic theory of private law, economic law, social law and environmental resource law of our institute. Professor Xue Kepeng and Professor Walter Pauly had in-depth discussions on the establishment and scientific research cooperation of special courses such as public economic law, private economic law and general theory of economic law. Professor Yu Wenxuan and Professor Matthias Knauff reached a lot of consensus on scientific research cooperation and workshop organization in the direction of environmental resources law and energy law. Professor Zhao Hongmei introduced the long tradition of cooperation between Social Law Institute and Albert Foundation of Germany in the past three years, and suggested that the two sides should further develop their talent training and scientific research cooperation in the labor law and social security law in the future.
On December 10, the delegation visited the Law and Finance School of Frankfurt University. Dr.Rolf Friedwald, Executive Director of the Law and Finance School, Ms.Kobbelt Shen Dee, Project Director, and Ms. Chen Chongxiang, Admissions Director attended the meeting. German participants introduced the characteristic courses of the Law and Finance School, especially the curriculum setting, enrollment requirements and employment distribution of the Master’s Program of International Financial Law. The two sides discussed specific issues such as the number of tuition fee reductions, recommended number of students, interview and admission procedures, scholarship application of the recommendation of undergraduate and graduate students for the Master’s Program of International Financial Law, which was mentioned in the Cooperation Agreement between the Civil and Commercial Economic Law School of China University of Political Science and Law and Frankfurt University(Germany)Law and Finance School. After reaching an agreement, the two sides signed the Cooperation Agreement between Civil and Commercial Economic Law School of China University of Political Science and Law and Frankfurt University(Germany)Law and Finance School. Both sides agreed to implement the terms of the agreement from 2019 and recommend excellent undergraduate and master students to Germany every year to study for the master of international financial law which taught in English.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the Law School of Frankfurt University. Ms.Susanne Pelster, Executive Director of Frankfurt University Law School chaired the meeting. Both sides affirmed the longstanding tradition of friendly cooperation between China University of Political Science and Law and Frankfurt University Law School. Professor Yu Fei mainly introduced the distribution of advantageous disciplines in private law and the Third Scope of Law of Civil and Commercial Economic Law School, and put forward suggestions on items such as personnel exchange in civil law, commercial law, procedural law, economic law, environmental and resource law, social law, intellectual property law, Mater and Doctor Students’ training, organization of international conference. The German participants provided a list of professors from Law School of Frankfurt University and highlighted the advantageous disciplines. They expressed their willingness to provide full support to China University of Political Science and Law on the direct contact between scholars in various disciplines. In the future, they will select joint research issues and organize academic activities with our institute.
On December 11, the delegation visited Bologna University (Italy). Under the chairmanship of Ms. Caterina Ponzoni, Head of International Exchange Office of Bologna University. The group held talks with Professor Riccardo Leoncini and Professor Gilberto Antonelli from Economic School, who are visiting professors hired by China University of Political Science and Law in 2018. Professor Gilberto Antonelli pointed out that as the oldest university and law school in the world, Bologna University has accumulated rich international experience in the cultivation of undergraduates with double degrees, Ph.D. in European tax law, Ph.D. in European Union law and has a long-term of cooperation with our university. Professor Yu Fei introduced the curriculum setting, key scientific research and faculty strength of the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School. In particular, he pointed out that our institute has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation with Bologna University, both in Roman law research and the composition of teachers with Italian academic backgrounds. It alyianparticipants introduced the Bologna University summer school project, “Innovation, Institutional Change and Intellectual Property” in 2018. Professor Yu Fei introduced the staff composition, key research and research strength of the intellectual property discipline of our institute. He said that our institute is willing to have more inter institutional cooperation with Italian universities on specific projects of intellectual property law. Professor Yu Wenxuan mainly introduced the research strength of the Environmental Law Research Institute in the fields of environmental law, resource law and energy law, and conducted in-depth exchanges with Italian participants on cooperation in these fields. Professor Zhao Hongmei introduced the research progress of the Social Law Research Institute in the field of internet platform economy and artificial intelligence to Italian participants, and communicated with them on the reform of labor law under the scientific and technological revolution. Both sides were willing to conduct in-depth cooperative research on these emerging issues in the future.
In the future, Civil and Commercial Economic Law School will further strengthen international exchanges, take more effective measures to create opportunities for teachers and students to further study, and introduce first-rate international teachers into the school. With high-quality international exchanges, our institute will take personnel training and faculty construction to a new level.
